Meet Ashley Ashley Clarke is a Birmingham native whose work lives at the intersection of embodiment, creativity, nature, and healing. She is a certified yoga teacher (E-RYT 500), a Kripalu Mindful Outdoor Guide (KMOG), and a potter whose clay work is rooted in presence and relationship with the natural world. Ashley is currently completing her MSW at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, with a focus on substance use recovery and mental health, and will graduate in May 2026. She interns at Birmingham Recovery Center and Longleaf Wellness, where she facilitates psychoeducational groups, recovery-informed yoga classes, mindful outdoor experiences, and art therapy groups. Her clinical interests center on nervous system regulation, embodied recovery, and creating spaces where people can safely reconnect with themselves and others. She currently facilitates Mindful Yoga for Recovery, a community-based class held at Birmingham Recovery Center that integrates gentle yoga with guided group reflection, and teaches Slow Flow and Movement to Recovery at yoga[lab] Birmingham. Ashley completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training at Sacred Glow Yoga (2017), her 500-hour advanced training at Circle Yoga Shala (2021), and her Kripalu Mindful Outdoor Guide certification through Kripalu School of Mindful Outdoor Leadership (2019). In partnership with the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Ashley has created wellness content for the B-Well UAB app and received grant funding to offer Mindful Writing through UAB’s Psychology Department. She has also presented a Mindful Writing & Yoga workshop through the University of Wisconsin–Madison and serves on the UAB President’s Wellbeing Collaborative team. Alongside her clinical and teaching work, Ashley’s pottery practice reflects her belief that healing is not only cognitive, but tactile, relational, and lived in the body. Working with clay is an extension of her embodied philosophy—an invitation to slow down, listen, and shape something honest with your hands.
